Obituary of Craig Kyer

Craig Kyer, 47, left this world much too soon, on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at his home in Johnsonville.

He was born July 24, 1976, in Geneva, NY, to Chris Kyer and Coleen (McGrouty) Kyer.

Craig was a graduate of Greenwich Central School, playing basketball throughout his time there.  For over 24 years he worked as a salesman for Carmody FORD in Greenwich. He was always fair and honest with his customers.   His proudest moment in life came with the birth of his daughter, Lexi.  Craig was a loving father and loved her more than anything in this world. He worked hard to always provide Lexi with anything she needed.  Weekend breakfasts, swimming in the back yard, and trips to Maine with Lexi were the highlights of Craigs life. 

 Craig lit up every room he entered, always providing jokes, and genuine conversation.  He was goofy, kind, and smart, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.  The Yankees and 49ers were his favorite sports teams, he loved to fish, he could cook a mean steak, and he enjoyed working around his home, beautifying his property.  Growing up he could be a handful always torturing his brother, but deep-down Craig was a mommy’s boy.  His mother’s greatest gift in life besides her two boys, was watching Craig interact with his daughter. 

The family will miss his genuine conversations, joyful attitude and the countless phone calls with Craig on the other line asking “What are you doing?  He will be missed and never forgotten by those he loved. 

In addition to his grandparents and father Chris, he was predeceased by his aunt, Marilyn Almy and dog Scooter.

Craig is survived by his mother, Coleen Kyer of Greenwich; daughter Lexi of Mechanicville, girlfriend and his rock, Laura Bornt of Hoosick Falls; brother, Matthew Kyer of Queensbury; friend and mother of his daughter, Mandy Dearstyne of Mechanicville; several aunts, uncles, friends and co-workers.  

A celebration of Craigs life and the impact he made in this world, will be held at 11 am on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Flynn Bros, Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St, Greenwich, NY, 12834.  A private burial will follow his service in the West Hoosick Rural Cemetery.

The family would like to encourage anyone who wishes in Craigs honor, to become an organ donor to help save the lives of those who need it most.
