Theo Kapper

Obituary of Theo Austin Kapper

Theo Austin Kapper, beloved son of Quinton and Lucia Kapper, fell asleep peacefully in his parents’ arms on the afternoon of Thursday, April 4th, following complications of prematurity after 37 wonderful days of life.

Theo made his unexpected but exciting entrance into the world at only 24 weeks gestation on Tuesday, February 27th. At birth, Theo weighed 15.5 ounces, measured 10.8 inches long, and was the most beautiful baby boy in the world.

Theo had the proudest parents who never missed an opportunity to talk about him. From the second he was born, he reminded everyone that although he was small, he was mighty. He overcame many obstacles in his 37 days of life with ease and grace. Theo possessed a will to live that was far larger than his little body. Theo was known as “feisty” by all that were blessed enough to know him, especially his nurses in the NICU.

He was always waving his arms and legs around while his diaper was getting changed and he would throw a fit, if he was put in any position other than on his belly. Theo’s eyes were often open, taking in the world and listening to his loved ones read books to him. When he was not busy being feisty, he would enjoy cuddles with his mommy and daddy while they talked to him and reminded him of how much he is loved. Theo knew nothing but love. There was never a day that Theo was alone in the hospital.

In addition to his parents, Theo was frequently accompanied by his grandparents, his aunts and uncles, his cousins, and close friends of Quinton and Lucia. Theo was welcomed in heaven by his Aunt Caroline Beth Kapper, Cousin Peyton Austin Wilbur, Great Grandfather Vito Alamia, and Great Grandfather John Hogan Sr.

In addition to his parents, those left to remember him include his four-legged big brother Gus, Grandparents John and Jennifer Hogan, Grandparents Edmund and Kerri Kapper, Aunt Jenna Hogan, Uncle John Hogan III and Aunt Alexis Curtis, Cousin Jacob Hogan, Uncle Noah Kapper and Aunt Sadie Kapper, Great Grandmother Lucy Alamia, Great Grandmother Kathleen Hogan, Great Grandparents Donald and Margaret Wilbur, Great Grandparents Edmund and Edris Kapper, and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that never stopped rooting for him.

Theo’s parents would like to recognize and thank everyone that prayed for Theo, both locally and across the world. Lucia and Quinton would like to take this opportunity to thank Theo’s medical team at the Albany Medical Center NICU.

Every single person there treated Theo with all the love, compassion, and attentiveness that he deserved. Nurses Katie, Olivia, Makayla, Nina, Nadia, and Hannah are just a few of Theo’s favorites. Theo’s 37 days of life would not have been as great as they were without these compassionate and selfless nurses. There are no words to express how grateful Theo’s family is.

Quinton and Lucia ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Theo’s name.

A Celebration of Life for Theo will be held on a future date to be disclosed by Quinton and Lucia as information becomes available.
